Change Yourself. Change the World.

Published by OoM <3 under Uncategorized

Changing the world is both easy and challenging; it just depends from what perspective you’re looking. Sometimes we all feel like the world is changing too fast for all of us to keep up but really, it’s just us. As long as we are a good person and care about others, we would all be able to change the world in ways that we might have never guessed. Life is actually simple; it’s just how we live it that changes its simplicities.
You could say Ghandi would be one worthy of living in India without anyone there rejecting the statement. I am inspired by his determination to do something to change the world and actually getting it done. The message that shone brightly through the article explaining the concepts of becoming a person to make a change is that everyone, anyone, can do this. Many people assume that in order to accomplish something as big and great as changing the big globe, that one person has to be a superhero or a celebrity to get their voice heard. But take Ghandi for example. He was never as famous as Brad Pitt or as strong as Superman; in fact, he was just an ordinary human, just like us. But he got his voice heard, in the simplest way imaginable. I truly believe that this action is very simple; you just have to find something that you really love and give your heart and soul to it. If we all think like this, our world would definitely be a much better place. We all can make much harder inventions like the internet and other technologies, so why can’t we do this?
After a few months of going into the depths of our unit in Social Studies, Connected World, I think we have absorbed enough information about our regions we have been assigned to study to live in that region as a normal citizen. The whole aspiration of the unit is to get us more involved in a wholly different region from ours altogether, and it has impacted me greatly throughout the year. But, knowing a lot about the Middle East, it has caused me to want to end Iraq and Iran’s war and the quarrels of the countries in Middle East themselves and others outside its boundaries as well. As a student, I believe that if I set my mind into studying the 10 fundamentals to changing the world, I would be able to do something to change the Middle East in a positive way.
We all have a great advantage over the past centuries in a strictly positive way; if all the centuries were to have a great big war against each other, we would win because of our new-world technologies and intellectual minds. We have created and invented many incredible gadgets and ideas that were not supposed to be produced until the next century. This means that our minds have developed significantly over the past few centuries. Ghandi has been able to gain India’s independence through words, and that is definitely something to keep in mind. But that was over 100 years ago, and can you imagine what we could do if we set our minds into it and work together? We could change the world to spin on a completely different orbit, and that’s a first. We have many things to get our voices heard, like a blog for example, which people look at every single day. If we could post our message onto a worldwide blog or a video on YouTube, then I can only imagine what we could do.

Reflection- Reading and Writing

Published by OoM <3 under Uncategorized

I got the same score on the Big Humanities Assessment as the last time I did it in the first semester. Though it seems as if I hadn’t improved at all, my friends reassure me that it is because the score is hard to make higher. Despite that factor, I still feel as if I actually hadn’t improved. The reason for this is because I hadn’t read as much as before, and I’ve been too busy hanging out with my friends. I haven’t handled my time management really well, so I think that’s one of the reasons I feel bad about my score, even though it is not low. I should have read more books during the Songkran holiday, and handled my time more wisely. I should have been doing my homework rather than hanging out with my friends after school. Now that I know how to improve my work, if I put it into action, there is no doubt that my writing skills will recover from its sickness.

Character Reflection

Published by OoM <3 under Just For Fun, Reading etc.

My name: Oom Bvornvirakit        The name of the book I am reading: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
The author of the book: Mark Haddon

1.    Write the name of a character in your book:
Christopher John Francis Boone

2.    Write 5 adjectives that describe your character.  At least 3 must be about their personality:

Logical
Honest
Eccentric
Shy
Anxious

3.    Would you want this character as a friend?  Write at least five sentences explaining why or why not.

I’ve always wanted a different type of person as a friend; it would be interesting to have Christopher as my companion because we have a lot in common. I like people who are similar to me because it would be easier to make friends with them. It would be very easy to understand what Christopher would tell me because he is very straightforward and doesn’t like explaining too many things. If Christopher were my friend, he would make me a better person because I would always have to tell him the truth and take care of him.

4.    Write one piece of advice you would give your character. Write at least four sentences.

I would try to make him trust people more, and that some strangers aren’t like the bad people you see in movies or the television. Of course, he would have to be careful when talking to strangers because you never know whether a person is bad. But if someone at school comes up to talk to him in a friendly way, I would tell Christopher to reply to them in a nice and friendly way because they are trying to make friends with him. I think this advice is really important because it then relates to many other thing Christopher does.

5.    Write one piece of advice your character would probably give you.  After you write this one, tell me why you think they would give you that advice. Write at least 5 – 7 sentences.

Christopher would tell me to be more direct and honest because lying, in his opinion, is a crime which would make people go to jail. Christopher doesn’t know anything about human emotions, which means that he is very straightforward and honest because he doesn’t know what people would think about what he would say. If I wasn’t honest and straightforward to him, then he would become confused and he would scream. Basically, it would cause a rather serious misunderstanding between us if I weren’t honest and/or direct.
